Is a rate cut appropriate to the times? Anxious about the trade war, Wall Street is expecting that the Fed will cut its benchmark rate twice before the end of the year (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/06\/04\/the-market-is-demanding-the-fed-cuts-interest-rates-soon.html\" target=\"_blank\">cnbc.com<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Not all observers think the Fed should act to cut interest rates. Even with inflation low and looming trade threats, Kansas City Federal Reserve President Esther George <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/05\/14\/feds-esther-george-says-theres-no-need-for-an-interest-rate-cut.html\" target=\"_blank\">said <\/a>there\u2019s no need for a rate cut. President Trump, however, has been <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/06\/04\/trump-trade-fed-cut-rates-1496010\" target=\"_blank\">leaning on the Fed<\/a> to cut interest rates in the context of the trade war with China, saying a rate cut would ensure a US victory: &#8220;Game over, we win!&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The rate game is not over though.
